The target volumes for soft tissue and bone sarcomas are determined by the initial involvement, the initial size and the location of the tumor lesion. The target volume includes the primary tumor with certain margins, which are based on the PTC protocol used. In the postoperative indication, the target volume includes the original tumor localization referred to as the “tumor bed”. In ES, the extent of bone involvement prior to CHT and the current extent of soft tissue involvement are critical. In the referenced analyzes and studies, normofractionated schemes clearly prevail with regard to the specific conditions of the respective units. Normofractionation is supported by large irradiated volumes in large retroperitoneal soft tissue sarcomas and similarly large volumes in ES. There is also a need for dose escalation in favor of normofractionation and the presence of many radiophragile structures at the cranial sites of chodrosarcoma and chordoma.
