The essence of multidisciplinary teams (MDT) at the Proton Therapy Center is a close cooperation of physicians representing various specialities – radiologists, radiation oncologists, clinical oncologists, surgeons, neurosurgeons, pediatric oncologists, urologists etc. Within the MDT indication seminars, the possibility of participation of all experts in indication, treatment, evaluation of treatment results, monitoring of patients (keeping registers) is set.
In addition to the representatives of the individual specialities, each MDT has its supervisor, the chief physician responsible for the specific diagnosis at PTC, and a client coordinator, whom any physician can contact at any time. Based on our mutual cooperation within the National Oncology Center, and also on the basis of cooperation with oncological centers in the Czech Republic and abroad, proton treatment is made available to all oncological patients within the framework of comprehensive nationwide oncological care. This supports the “Objective of cancer treatment”, which is an increased chance of the patient for proper and timely treatment using all available treatment modalities.
